Co-Founder: Marketing & Growth
The world needs better ways to disagree. We are building it. We need a co-founder to make millions of people discover it.
The Problem Worth Solving
Social media algorithms reward outrage over understanding. Cable news turned complex issues into two people yelling past each other for ratings. School debate programs reach fewer than 3% of students, and the average person has zero exposure to structured argumentation after graduating. This is not a small gap. It is a generational failure of intellectual infrastructure.
People do not lack opinions. They lack the skills and spaces to express them productively. The result is a culture where disagreement means conflict, where changing your mind feels like losing, and where the loudest voice wins regardless of merit. That is the problem. It is massive, it is getting worse, and almost nobody is building a real solution.
People have forgotten how to disagree. We are building the place where they remember.
What SuperDebate Is
SuperDebate is a live events platform and community for structured, competitive debate. The platform is live at superdebate.org. Events are happening in real cities. People show up, compete, and come back. This is not a pitch deck or a prototype. It is a working product with real users.
The Chicago Debate Showcase in May 2026 is the next flagship event, built on an open invitational model designed to bring new people into competitive debate for the first time. The format is accessible, the production is professional, and the energy is unlike anything else in the space.
We have built tournament infrastructure with bracket generation and automated pairings, club management tools, event registration systems, a real-time judge scoring platform, and a content engine. The technology works. What we need now is the person who makes the world find out about it.
The Role
This is not a marketing hire. This is not a VP title grafted onto someone else's vision. This is a founding partner who will own every aspect of how SuperDebate reaches people. Equal authority. Shared equity. Real ownership of the outcome.
You will build the growth engine from scratch. Paid channels, organic content, partnerships, PR, ambassador networks, community flywheels. You pick the strategy. You execute it. You own the results. There is no playbook to inherit. You are writing it.
The other co-founder (John Connor) builds the product and runs operations. You build the brand and drive growth. Two people, one mission, total alignment. Every major decision is made together. Every win is shared.
What You Will Own
- ◆Brand identity, voice, and positioning from the ground up
- ◆Growth strategy and execution across paid, organic, and partnership channels
- ◆Content engine: social media, blog, email newsletters, podcast production, video
- ◆Go-to-market playbook for launching SuperDebate in new cities
- ◆Ambassador recruitment and activation across the US
- ◆Conversion optimization across the full funnel, from awareness to retention
- ◆PR, media relationships, and press strategy
- ◆Community building and member engagement programs
- ◆Partnership development with universities, companies, and civic organizations
- ◆Marketing budget allocation as we scale (you set the priorities)
Who This Is For
You have built something before. Not a pitch deck. Something real. A brand people recognized. A campaign that drove measurable results. A community that grew because you understood what made people show up and stay.
You are equal parts creative and analytical. You can write a headline that stops someone mid-scroll, then open a dashboard and explain exactly what it converted and why. You are not "just a creative" or "just a data person." You are both, and you find the intersection of the two is where the best work happens.
You are energized by constraints, not paralyzed by them. No team yet. No budget yet. No brand guidelines. Just a product that works, a co-founder who will match your intensity, and a market that is wide open. If that sounds like freedom rather than risk, you are the right person.
You care about this specific problem. Not "disruption" as an abstract concept. You genuinely believe that people have forgotten how to disagree productively, and that bothers you. If the idea of turning structured debate into something millions of people actually do excites you more than optimizing another SaaS funnel, keep reading.
The Opportunity
Co-founder equity: meaningful ownership stake with a standard 4-year vest and 1-year cliff. You are not joining a company. You are building one.
Revenue share tied directly to the growth you drive. Your results determine your earnings from day one.
Total ownership of your domain. No committees. No approval chains. No "let me check with my manager." You are the manager.
Fundraising is the next milestone. When we raise, compensation scales with the company. You will be at the table for that conversation as a co-founder, not an employee.
You would not be hire number two. You would be founder number two.
What Happens Next
You apply below. Tell us about something you built that worked.
If there is a fit, we will have a conversation within one week. No panel interviews. No take-home assignments. Just a real conversation between potential co-founders about the vision, the work, and whether we are the right match.
If we both feel it, we move fast.
