Tournament Format
3 days · 6 preliminary rounds · Top 8 advance to eliminations
32 Two-Person Teams
64 total competitors split into Flight A (16 teams) and Flight B (16 teams) for alternating debate and judging roles.
Fast-Paced Rounds
55-60 minute rounds with structured speeches, cross-examination, rebuttals, and 5 minutes of flexible prep time per team.
Peer Judging
While Flight A debates, Flight B judges — then they switch. Every competitor is both advocate and arbiter.
Power Matching
Round 1 is random; Rounds 2–6 pair teams with similar records for maximum competitive balance.
Top 8 Bracket
After preliminaries, the top 8 teams advance to single-elimination: Quarterfinals → Semifinals → Grand Finals.
World-Class Venue
Preliminary rounds in conference spaces; elimination rounds in the main auditorium before 100+ live spectators.

Four Universal Criteria (7–10 Scale)
Each judge scores both teams on four criteria using a 7.0–10.0 scale with 0.5 increments
1Use of Evidence
Quality and accuracy of material used to support claims, through logical reasoning or reference to facts and examples
2Persuasiveness
Ability to engage and convince through tone, pacing, emphasis, and overall presence
3Responsiveness
Degree to which the team directly engages with and answers the opposing side's arguments
4Argument Clarity
Coherence, structure, and logical flow. Clear connection and expression of ideas
Scoring: Each team receives 4 scores from each judge (28–40 points total). The SuperDebate app averages all four judges' totals to determine the round winner with complete transparency.

Rules & Conduct
Fair play, respect, and intellectual rigor are the foundation of great debate
Time Limits
All speeches must adhere to time limits. Grace period of 15 seconds, then points may be deducted.
Respectful Discourse
Personal attacks, discriminatory language, or harassment are grounds for immediate disqualification.
Fair Judging
Judges must score objectively on the 4 criteria. Conflict of interest must be declared immediately.
No Outside Help
During rounds, no communication with outside parties. Prep time is for team discussion only.
