Growth & Marketing Co-Founder
Make debate the most exciting intellectual competition on the planet.
About SuperDebate
SuperDebate is building the competitive league for debate. Think what the UFC did for mixed martial arts. We are doing that for structured argumentation. Live events, local clubs, a technology platform, and championship tournaments that put the best minds on stage.
We have hosted events across Chicago, Portland, Bali, and Roatan, Honduras. We have a working platform, a growing community, an advisory board with deep roots in debate education and AI research, and a format people love. The foundation is proven. Now it is time to scale.
The UFC put MMA on the world stage. We are doing the same for debate.
The Role
We are looking for a co-founder who owns growth and marketing end to end. This is not a support role. You will be responsible for how the world discovers, perceives, and talks about SuperDebate.
The central challenge: debate is one of the oldest and most valuable intellectual traditions in human history, but most people associate it with C-SPAN or high school auditoriums. Your job is to change that. Make it cool. Make it culturally relevant. Make people want to watch it, try it, and tell their friends about it.
You will work directly with the founder, advisory board, and community to build a brand that earns attention and a growth engine that converts it.
Brand & Positioning
Define and evolve SuperDebate's brand voice, visual identity, and messaging across all channels
Craft the value proposition of competitive debate for different audiences: competitors, spectators, sponsors, media
Position SuperDebate in culture, not just in a category. We are not an app or a meetup. We are a movement with infrastructure
Content & Social
- ◆Build and run social channels (TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube) with content designed to go viral
- ◆Produce clips, highlights, and storytelling from live events that make debate look as thrilling as it actually is
- ◆Develop content formats that showcase the wit, intensity, and drama of real debates
- ◆Create a content calendar and pipeline that keeps the brand visible between events
Growth & Acquisition
- ◆Design and execute campaigns that drive club signups, event ticket sales, and platform registrations
- ◆Build city-launch playbooks: repeatable strategies for entering new markets with local clubs and events
- ◆Own funnel metrics: awareness, engagement, conversion, retention
- ◆Run paid and organic experiments, measure what works, kill what does not
Partnerships & PR
- ◆Cultivate relationships with sponsors, media outlets, podcasts, and cultural figures
- ◆Develop pitch materials and sponsor decks
- ◆Identify and pursue co-marketing opportunities with aligned brands and organizations
- ◆Build relationships with debate communities, universities, and civic organizations
Community
Turn existing members into advocates and ambassadors
Build referral and word-of-mouth programs
Engage directly with the community to understand what resonates and what does not
Who You Are
5+ years in growth marketing, brand marketing, content marketing, or a combination. Ideally at a consumer brand, media company, or community-driven organization
You have built a brand's social presence from early stage to meaningful scale. You have examples
You understand short-form video and know what makes content spread. You have made things go viral or understand why things do
Strong writer and communicator. You can write a brand manifesto and a tweet thread with equal skill
Data-informed but not data-paralyzed. You track metrics, run experiments, and make decisions
You have worked in fast-moving environments where you had to figure things out without a playbook
You have taste. You know the difference between content that earns attention and content that fills space
Bonus
- ◆Experience in competitive debate as a competitor, coach, judge, or organizer
- ◆Background in sports marketing, entertainment, or cultural brand building
- ◆Experience with event marketing and live experiences
- ◆Existing audience or following in relevant spaces
- ◆Background in civic tech, education, or mission-driven organizations
Compensation
- ◆Equity co-founder stake
- ◆Revenue share from events and partnerships
- ◆Path to salary as the company raises funding
- ◆This is a part-time to full-time role depending on your availability and how fast we move together
Why This Matters
Debate sharpens how people think, listen, and communicate. It is one of the most powerful tools ever developed for building better thinkers, and right now almost no one has access to it after high school.
SuperDebate is changing that. We are building the organization that puts debate on the world stage and brings it to everyone. This is a legacy play, the kind of work that compounds over decades.
If you have been looking for something worth building, this is it.
