Debate Management

Host structured debates with flexible team configurations, real-time commenting, and comprehensive scoring for competitive or casual formats.

What It Does

The debate system is the heart of SuperDebate. Create structured debates on any topic, invite opponents, assign judges, and engage your audience with real-time commenting. Whether you're hosting a casual 1v1 or a competitive team debate, the system adapts to your needs.

Debates can be standalone or linked to topics, clubs, or tournament events. Our flexible format supports teams of 1-5 debaters per side, configurable rounds, and multiple scoring criteria. Moderators keep discussions on track while judges provide official scores.

Key Benefits

  • Flexible team sizes from 1v1 to 5v5 debates
  • Schedule debates in advance with automatic reminders
  • Real-time comment threads for audience engagement
  • Assign dedicated judges with configurable scoring criteria
  • Link debates to topics for organized discussion threads

How It Works

1

Create Your Debate

Set a motion/title, write a description, choose team size (1-5), set the number of rounds, and pick a date/time.

2

Build Your Teams

Invite debaters to Proposition or Opposition sides. They can accept from their invitations or join from the debate page.

3

Assign Judges

Add judges to score the debate. Optionally designate a head judge for tiebreakers.

4

Run the Debate

During the debate, the moderator manages rounds while the audience comments in real-time.

5

Score & Complete

Judges submit scores based on your criteria. Once finalized, results are recorded and statistics updated.

Pro Tips

  • 1.Link your debate to an existing topic to attract interested participants.
  • 2.For competitive debates, use 3+ judges to ensure fair scoring.
  • 3.Enable audience scoring for a fun, interactive experience (scores don't affect official results).
  • 4.Schedule debates at least 24 hours ahead to give participants time to prepare.
